“I know that inspectors play a vital role in making sure the process is delivered correctly,” he told us.

David has worked with Nexus for over 12 years, joining as a coating technician before working his way up to quality inspector. His interest in the process had started before that however and in a previous job in the industry, he’d already started to learn how to read engineering drawings and use inspection tools.

He tells us that the inspection process occupies most of his working day.

“The time spent on any part can vary, and takes anything from 45 minutes to several hours,” he said.

“It all depends on the job, but the process usually involves a visual inspection for any damage or failures, then checking that all the numbers and drawings match the part, as well as the DFT (dry film thickness – an important variable in product quality and process control, and can consist of single or multiple layers).

“And the final step is getting all the parts securely packed and sent on to the customer, making sure that the finished product and service is exactly as they’d expect from Nexus. Satisfied customers are very important!”
